1. Prospect Is As Safe As Can Be

Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home, but not everyone has such a luxury. On a scale of 1 (low crime) to 100 (high crime), Prospect has a 6.8 rating for violent crime (the U.S. average is 22.7) while the town’s property crime has a rating of 13.9 (the U.S. average is 35.4). This means that Prospect is not only one of the safest towns to live in within the Connecticut area, but also in the United States as a whole. In Prospect, there’s no reason to worry about coming home late at night, or sending your child off to walk to a friend’s house. Prospect is one of the safest towns you can raise a family in!

2. Tight-Knit Community

One major concern for people moving to a new area like Prospect, CT. Oftentimes it can be hard to meet new people in cities where everyone is constantly moving and concerned with their own priorities. In Prospect, life is more relaxed and the community is very close. Since the town of Prospect is so small, odds are that you’ll get to know your neighbor and see the same people at the grocery store, church, town events, etc. In addition, you’ll also be able to enjoy some peace and quiet!

3. The Town Center

The town center of Prospect, CT, otherwise known as “The Meeting Place”, is a small stone building in the center of town where many of the annual events occur. Around Easter, locals come together at the town center for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. During the summer, there are car shows or a “Sock Hop”, with over 700 vehicles on display for Prospect residents to observe. At this event, there is also a handful of food tents and live bands playing good old 50’s and 60’s music. When that crisp fall weather finally comes around, everyone meets for the Pumpkin Festival, complete with a parade, vendors, activities, games, and a pumpkin decorating competition where students from kindergarten to eighth grade can enter to win. Finally, each year comes to a close with the town’s annual Tree Lighting and Light Parade. During this exciting event, the town’s fire trucks coast through the streets decked out in holiday lights, and the town’s Christmas tree is lit once the parade reaches its end.

4. McGrath Pond and Parks

In order for a town to really be considered a good place to move, it needs to have some beautiful parks where residents can enjoy the outdoors year round. In Prospect, Connecticut, one of the most popular parks is McGrath pond. At this pond, locals are constantly relaxing in sporting chairs, standing with a fish rod, or picnicking at the nearby picnic tables.

Hotchkiss Field is only a few minutes away from this pond, and is considered a multipurpose play area with all the seasonal activities you can dream of. There are tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, a soccer field, and even an ice skating area for when the ice freezes over in the winter!

5. Prospect Golf Course

Are you a golf fan? So are many of the Prospect residents! That is why Prospect Golf Course is such a hit for locals living within the area. Prospect Golf Course has a driving range for whenever you need to get in a little practice before hitting the greens, and a pro shop, for all your Prospect Golf Course merchandise. This golf course also has a golf school, where you and a golf professional will focus on areas that you need to improve on in order to further better your golf game. Finally, there is also an 18-hole miniature golf course for the whole family to enjoy and put their putting skills to the test.
