1. Location

When deciding on the best town to relocate to, one of the most important deciding factors is the location. Are you close to major cities? Is it an easy commute to your job? Do you have restaurant options nearby? Meriden is a great place to move to if you’re looking to be close to major cities. It is a mere 20-minute commute to Hartford, and 25 minutes to New Haven. In addition, it is also a little less than 2 hours from Boston and less than 2 hours from New York City. Do I hear day trips? With being close to a handful of major cities, it is no wonder why so many Meriden locals boast about being able to go out every weekend. The restaurants and nightlife in both New Haven and Hartford are phenomenal, and it’s nice to be close by without having to deal with all of the annoying city noises that come with it!

2. Meriden Mall

Do you like to shop? If so, then Meriden is definitely the place for you. This is because Meriden residents are blessed to have the Meriden Mall right on the outskirts of town! With over 140 stores and a number of quality restaurants, this mall is one of the best places to grab some essentials or a quick bite to eat! Some of the most popular stores include Macy’s, Boscov’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Best Buy, and T.J. Maxx. If you’re someone who loves to shop until you drop, then moving to a town with a mall in it might be the best move for you!

3. Restaurants

Pizza and pasta or tacos and tequila, Meriden has fantastic restaurant variety within its town lines. Whether you are looking for some traditional American food, craving some Italian cuisine, or looking for some Spanish, Brazilian, or even Peruvian dishes, Meriden has it all. Some of the most notable restaurants that Meriden residents rave about include Ted’s Restaurant, Tacos Mi Nacho, and Avanti Restaurant. These restaurants also typically allow customers to dine in or get take out, so no matter if you’re looking to have a nice night out and enjoy some great food, or looking to grab some takeout and relax on the couch, these restaurants can accommodate both!

4. Hiking Central

Spring and summer in Connecticut can bring about glorious, warm, sunny days that pull locals out to enjoy the nice weather. Falls are notable in the New England area because of the beautiful foliage and crisp days. Because the weather is so delightful for most of the year, some of Connecticut residents favorite activities are to walk, run, or hike. Luckily, Meriden has no shortage of trails to enjoy the outdoors on! Both Guiffrida Park and Hubbard Park are two of the most popular hiking destinations in the area. Hubbard Park is a spectacular place to visit if you have a family because there is a pool open during the summer months and a playscape. It is also desirable because you can either drive or walk up the trail, which passes by a big body of water, and ends with a castle known as Castle Craig. Hikers can walk up a few flights of stairs and stand at the top of the castle, overlooking the entire town of Meriden-such a beautiful view, especially in the fall!

5. The Daffodil Festival

Almost every town in Connecticut has some type of annual festival, and Meriden is no exception. Each and every April, the city of Meriden holds the Daffodil Festival in Hubbard Park. This festival has a parade to kick off the event, booths upon booths of food, carnival rides, arts and crafts, live music, and fireworks to close out the day! Some festival favorites from the food booths include juicy cheeseburgers, apple fritters, fried dough, pierogies, and more! Of course, there is also 600,000 daffodils in bloom surrounding the festival, with over 60 varieties of the flower. The Meriden Daffodil Festival is one of the most colorful ways to kick off the spring season!
